Sapienn is an alternative pop-rock band from Glasgow, originally founded as the solo project of singer-songwriter Scott Simpson. After emerging from Glasgow’s underground metal scene, Scott launched Sapienn in 2016 with a focus on melody-driven songwriting. His debut EP Hours of Despair (2016) and album A Black Sarcasm (2017) earned early support, with singles “How To Start An Idle Heart” and “Palisades” receiving airplay on Amazing Radio and the album being considered for the 2018 Scottish Album of the Year Award.
Sapienn’s second album, Cold Logic (2020), marked a shift toward a more rock-focused sound and became the project’s most successful release to date, gaining increased streams, radio play, and critical praise. Following years of solo performances and festival appearances—including Butefest and Gig at the Grounds—Scott expanded Sapienn into a full live band, blending influences from rock, R&B, folk, prog, and funk.
Sapienn is currently working on new music, with a release planned for 2026.
